JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

John 3:16

“God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.” NCV

With all the hustle and bustle that's going on around us as persons prepare for the Christmas celebration, we as Christians, must never forget the real reason for the season. While we do not teach that Jesus was born on December25th, we do take time to celebrate His coming into the world.

The long awaited Savior and Redeemer came into a dark, sin-cursed world to bring the light of Salvation and the hope of a better life to lost humanity. The birth of Jesus was miraculous. A virgin by the name of Mary conceived and bore a son, who was the Very God incarnate, without the aid of a man. The Holy Spirit was active in the conception and birth of Jesus just as much as He was active in the creation of the heavens and the earth when God spoke the world into existence.

This is the real reason that we celebrate Christmas. Without Christ there is nothing to celebrate. He is the perfect representation and ultimate revelation of the invisible God, who is the Captain of our Salvation and hope of eternal life. Scripture says He took on the nature of man even though He were the Son of God. So He identifies with us in all our human experiences, yet He is God who brings to us His Grace and Mercy.

So we lift our hearts and hands to our loving Heavenly Father in a note of thanksgiving to Him for thinking about us and loving us so much that He sent His only Son into the world so that through His death we may have life eternal. He is now the Risen Lord and yes, the reason for the season. Luke 1:26-35; : Colossians 1:12-18; Hebrews 2:14-15.

Prayer: Heavenly Father we thank you for the gift of your son Jesus Christ, whom you sent into the world to procure our redemption. As we celebrate Christmas may we also fully embrace our rights and privileges as children of God and endeavor to make Him known to others in Jesus name. Amen.
